Dear Loker School Community,
I hope that you have dried off from this weekend´s Noréaster! ! Occasionally, children who participate in occupational therapy, physical therapy, guidance, special education or speech services bring a “buddy” to their sessions with them to enhance their educational and social experience as well as provide an enjoyable learning experience for the “buddy”. This does not occur on a regular basis but does involve a “buddy” leaving the classroom for about thirty minutes for a session. We are mindful in how “buddies” are pulled out of the classroom to minimize any possible disruption in their learning. If you would like your child to NOT be a “buddy”,please complete the form at the link below and return it in your child’s backpack by this Friday, October 2nd.

We had a first Loker School Meeting last Thursday and it was wonderful having all of our Loker scholars together in one place as a community! Team PRIDE did an excellent job with educating about tetherball and staying safe on the bus. The video link is below. Our School Meeting ¨Read Aloud" was a Kindness 101 from Steve Hartman on Humility and the link to this video is also below.
Have a great week ahead! We are really looking forward to our Fall Book Fair next week! Thank you for your partnership.
Best, Brian |
LOKER SCHOOL COUNCIL has openings for three parent representatives. All representatives will serve through June 2027.
WHAT IS SCHOOL COUNCIL? As part of the 1993 Education Reform Act the state mandated the formation of a school council at every level of public school education. The council is made up of the school principal, vice principal, two staff members, three elected parent representatives and one member of the community, who does not currently hold a staff position or have a child in the school.
WHAT DOES THE SCHOOL COUNCIL DO? The council identifies an area of interest to examine during the course of the year and assists the principal to develop a School Improvement Plan. The area of interest may vary depending on the needs of the school community, educational issues or directives from the Superintendent. Although the council discusses school concerns that arise during the course of the year, their main responsibility is to adhere to a topic that supports the School Improvement Plan.
If you are interested in “shaping the policies and the programs of the school”, please complete the google sign-up form at the following link:

The Just Like Me program is coming to 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classrooms this year and we are looking for volunteers to support this program. JLM is a disability awareness program bringing information, experiential exercises, and guest speakers into your child's classroom. The topics are deafness and hearing loss (3rd grade), learning differences (4th grade), and autism (5th grade). While volunteers typically have a child in the classroom they sign up for, it's not required, so anyone can volunteer and no experience is necessary! Dates are not set yet so there's some flexibility. Currently looking to source as many interested parents as possible. Any questions? Contact Colleen Kurson at colleenkurson@gmail.com |
You might be surprised by how much the PTO supports! From field trip subsidies and STEAM fairs to the World Fair, talent shows, movie nights, cultural programming, disability programming, staff appreciation, garden days, and more. PTO volunteers and donations help make our school special.
Our Fall Fundraiser has one simple goal: to get every family involved so we can keep these activities and experiences a meaningful part of the Loker student experience. Every contribution helps—and every family’s participation makes a difference. Thank you for supporting the programs that make Loker such a special place to learn and grow!

Please preview this with your children and show them how to cross safely. - Push the Pedestrian light. (when available)
- Look BOTH ways
- Wait for traffic to STOP before crossing the street.
There will be a crossing guard at the Loker Driveway on Loker Street at arrival & dismissal. As always, we encourage drivers to use extra caution and watch for students and families crossing near the school. |
As a reminder, the Wayland School District is no longer able to distribute lists/names of students in each elementary school homeroom class with parents as well as PTO room parents.
As an alternative, the Loker PTO will build lists of children in each homeroom class using the information submitted by student caregivers in this form. This is an opt- in process.
https://forms.gle/aGnFSjUxgDsz59ms9
Once the information submitted here is compiled, families will receive a list of names and contact information of the children/caregivers in their child's homeroom class.
