Dear Loker School Community,
It has been an absolute joy navigating these first two weeks of the school year alongside your children! The energy and enthusiasm across the building have set a incredibly positive and enriching tone for the months ahead.
This year, our school theme is "We shine bright when we care for one another." It has been truly wonderful to see the tremendous kindness our Loker scholars display daily in alignment with this message. We have been highlighting specific examples during our morning announcements to celebrate these moments, such as:
-
Inclusion at Recess: Two fifth graders went out of their way to include and teach first graders how to catch a football when the younger students didn't have a ball to play with.
-
Peer Support in the Classroom: A third grader noticed a classmate having a hard time answering a question, walked over to their desk, and helped them spell and write out the words they needed.
A heartfelt thank you to all the amazing volunteers who provided support during Friday's Loker Picture Day as we could not have done it without you!
We are also eager to welcome you all back to the building this week for our annual Curriculum Night on Thursday evening. The schedule for the night is as follows:
-
Grades 3–5: 6:00 PM – 6:45 PM
-
Specialists: 6:45 PM – 7:15 PM
-
Grades K–2: 7:15 PM – 8:00 PM
Thank you for your continued partnership and support in making Loker such a warm, caring community. Have a great week!
Sincerely,
Brian

Have some Fall fun by volunteering in the Loker Vegetable Garden helping students harvest vegetables, herbs, sunflower seeds and more! We hope to offer some of these fruits and vegetables as part of our school lunch. We are looking for 3 parent volunteers for each time slot to help with this event. Feel free to sign up for multiple classes if you like.
If you are interested, please sign-up on the volunteer link below.

Our Fall Fundraiser is underway! Thank you to everyone who has already donated. As our returning families know, each year, instead of asking families to sell wrapping paper, candy, or candles, we ask families to make a tax deductible donation to support the Loker Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).
Your donations help fund field trip subsidies, STEAM fairs, cultural programming, staff appreciation, family events, the book fair, and so much more.
While there is a suggested donation, every family’s participation matters, and we welcome whatever contribution works best for your family.

Ms. Powell at the Loker Library is looking for volunteers to help out in the library this year. She especially needs volunteers to assist with the Kindergarten and 1st Grade classes (check out, etc), and also general help re-shelving books (1-2 hours/week, anytime). Come when you can or you can pick a recurring/semi-regular block of time. Volunteers must be Cori’d and sign in at front desk. Click here to sign up!
New to volunteering at the Loker Library? 📚 This year we're offering short, kid-free walkthroughs where you can come in, get shown the ropes, and learn how you can best help out during your shifts. It’s quick, easy, and a great way to feel comfortable before diving in! Interested, please reach out to kjacobellis12@gmail.com to schedule - we look forward to having you!

Please preview this with your children and show them how to cross safely.
- Push the Pedestrian light. (when available)
- Look BOTH ways
- Wait for traffic to STOP before crossing the street.
There will be a crossing guard at the Loker Driveway on Loker Street at arrival & dismissal.
As always, we encourage drivers to use extra caution and watch for students and families crossing near the school.

It's not too late to order your school photo from last week's picture day. Please see the Hayward Order Form and online ordering information HERE and at the button below.
Please note that ONLY pre-ordered photo packages benefit the Loker School PTO.
|
As a reminder, the Wayland School District is no longer able to distribute lists/names of students in each elementary school homeroom class with parents as well as PTO room parents.
As an alternative, the Loker PTO will build lists of children in each homeroom class using the information submitted by student caregivers in this form. This is an opt- in process.
https://forms.gle/aGnFSjUxgDsz59ms9
Once the information submitted here is compiled, families will receive a list of names and contact information of the children/caregivers in their child's homeroom class.
