Dear Loker School Community,
I hope that you had a great weekend! It was wonderful observing our 4th grade musicians perform a fabulous concert last night at Wayland High School! With such a large audience, I was particularly impressed with the confidence and poise that our 4th graders demonstrated in creating such beautiful music! Thank you to Ms. Keenan and Ms. Yang for getting our band and strings students so well-prepared! We are also excited for our in-school grades 3-5 instrumental music concert on Wednesday morning and our fifth grade instrumental music concert on Wednesday evening! I know that our musicians will do a terrific job at these concerts as well!
The writers, illustrators and photographers from our scholar newspaper, Loker Lion News, have been hard at work in producing their latest edition which can be found at the following link: Loker Lion News
We have a special and different type of School Meeting occurring this Thursday. In an effort to get our scholars excited about our upcoming Loker STEM Fair on Thursday, January 22nd, we will have a performance from the Mad Science organization who will demonstrate engaging science experiments and provide inquiry-based instruction. Grades K-2 will have Mad Science from 8:20am-9:20am and Grades 3-5 will have it from 9:35am-10:35am.
Have an excellent week!
Best,
Brian

Ms. Powell at the Loker Library is looking for volunteers to help out this year. Volunteering during your child’s class is especially fun — you’ll get to see them in action, share in their excitement for books, and experience a little piece of their school day. Come whenever you’re available, or sign up for a recurring/semi-regular slot. Volunteers must be CORI’d and sign in at the front desk.
✨ New to volunteering at the Loker Library? This fall, we’re offering short, kid-free walkthroughs on Mondays & Wednesdays where you can learn the ropes, ask questions, and feel confident before jumping in. It’s quick, easy, and a great way to get started!

Please help your children be properly dressed for the cold weather! Weather permitting, we go outside EVERY day at Loker School. Please be sure to send your children to school with the Big 5:
1. Winter jacket
2. Snow pants (waterproof)
3. Boots
4. Hat
5. Mittens/gloves. (waterproof)
If there is snow on the ground, students who are not properly dressed will be asked to stay off of the fields and play structure areas. Thank you for your support with this. Children have more fun and learn better when they are comfortable! Please be sure to label ALL clothing.
Please pack a seasonally appropriate full change of clothes in backpacks.

In addition to all of the amazing things that the Loker PTO does for the school and our scholars, the PTO is a 501(c)3 organization, which means your yearly donations to the fall fundraiser are tax deductable and may be eligble for company matching. When planning your charitable donations for Giving Tuesday (or anytime), please consider adding Gift Your Child to your list.
So far this year, the Loker PTO has organized the Kindergarten Popcicle Social, New Parent Coffee, Fall Ice Cream Social, Movie Night, the Fall Book Fair, the Curriculum Night Parent Social and subsidized the cost of the fall field trips. The PTO has coordianted volunteers for all of those events and as library helpers, Harvest Day volunteers, picture day volunteers and planning committes for all of the events that are still to come. The Loker Parent Teacher Organization provides opportunities and support for Loker scholars that go beyond what’s possible through school funding alone.

Donation bin in the Loker Lobby
The Loker School Community is coming together to help families in our area who could be directly impacted by disrupted SNAP benefits. Please consider donating non-perishable food items such as peanut butter, soups, pasta & spaghetti sauce, cereals, boxed & canned meals and personal care items. (Please check expiration dates.)
All donations will be brought to My Brother's Table- a Wayland based Food Pantry who distribute items to residents regardless of need.
If we work together we can make a difference!
