Dear Loker School Community,
I hope that you are well! Congratulations to our fourth grade Spanish Immersion class who raised $1,841 for the Pulsera service learning project! In selling these bracelets last week, a significant amount of money was raised for supporting the employment, education, healthcare and housing for Central American artisans. What an outstanding achievement! Thank you to Señora Smith, Señora Maza and our parent volunteers for their wonderful support of our fourth grade Spanish Immersion scholars!
Grateful for Loker Community:
As Thanksgiving is two days away, I want to share my deep gratitude to our Loker community. We have a wonderful PTO and families in our school community who are so dedicated to our school! It makes such a positive impact in our ability to provide the best education that we can for your children. Whether it is volunteering for a special event such as being a scooper at an Ice Cream Social, visiting classrooms as a mystery reader, working at the Book Fair, chaperoning a field trip, bringing Cultural Enrichment performances to Loker and the numerous other ways to be meaningfully involved with our school, I really appreciate you. I also want to express my deep gratitude to our excellent Loker teachers and staff. Working with all of you continues to be such a tremendous joy and your commitment to each of your scholars is truly incredible!
Giving Thanks School Meeting:
I hope to see you at our most-attended event of the school year tomorrow (Wednesday) with our Giving Thanks School Meeting from 8:20am-9:05am in the gymnasium. I am looking forward to seeing musical performances by all of our grade levels at this special community gathering!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
Sincerely,
Brian

Now through Wednesday, December 3rd
Please sign up to sponsor a child!
Thanks to those of you who have already offered to sponsor foster children this holiday season. We really appreciate your generosity! We still have foster children to match with sponsors, so please let us know if you are interested.
Please help us as Loker School collects holiday gifts for children currently in Foster Care through the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families. Children in Foster Care represent some of the most at-risk children in our area. They have suffered more loss and hardships in their short lives than most adults. Our support can significantly build their feelings of self-worth and bring a ray of sunshine into their lives. In many cases these will be the only gifts the children receive during the holiday season.
'Adopting' a child this holiday season is a wonderful opportunity to share the gift of giving with your
children. Your participation will allow these children to personally experience the special love and caring that the holiday season is all about.
If you would like to sponsor a child, please send an email to Felicia Hyman at felicia.hyman@gmail.com with SPONSOR A FOSTER CHILD in the subject line.
Please include: YOUR CHILD'S FIRST AND LAST NAME AND THEIR TEACHER'S NAME and YOUR CONTACT INFO (email and/or phone #).
You will receive an email back with information on a foster child for you to sponsor, including a wish list and clothing sizes. We will ask that you start with ONE child and purchase all items on the list and return your gifts to the front lobby of Loker School no later than Wednesday, December 3rd. Wrapping paper is very much appreciated if you are able to include it with your gift.
We are also collecting gift cards, as DCF has indicated a need for gift cards as well. If you're interested in donating gift cards in lieu of adopting a child, please drop gift cards in the Loker office by Monday, December 2nd. Recommended denominations are $25 to $50.
Please contact one of us with any questions. Thank you in advance for your support!

In addition to all of the amazing things that the Loker PTO does for the school and our scholars, the PTO is a 501(c)3 organization, which means your yearly donations to the fall fundraiser are tax deductable and may be eligble for company matching. When planning your charitable donations for Giving Tuesday (or anytime), please consider adding Gift Your Child to your list.
So far this year, the Loker PTO has organized the Kindergarten Popcicle Social, New Parent Coffee, Fall Ice Cream Social, Movie Night, the Fall Book Fair, the Curriculum Night Parent Social and subsidized the cost of the fall field trips. The PTO has coordianted volunteers for all of those events and as library helpers, Harvest Day volunteers, picture day volunteers and planning committes for all of the events that are still to come. The Loker Parent Teacher Organization provides opportunities and support for Loker scholars that go beyond what’s possible through school funding alone.

Donation bin in the Loker Lobby
The Loker School Community is coming together to help families in our area who could be directly impacted by disrupted SNAP benefits. Please consider donating non-perishable food items such as peanut butter, soups, pasta & spaghetti sauce, cereals, boxed & canned meals and personal care items. (Please check expiration dates.)
All donations will be brought to My Brother's Table- a Wayland based Food Pantry who distribute items to residents regardless of need.
If we work together we can make a difference!
